Genevieve and Alex’s Houchins wedding took place at the end of July, on another lovely summer’s day at a venue I know very well. As one of Houchins’ preferred suppliers, I’m lucky enough to film here regularly, but this one felt particularly good as my relationship with Gen and Alex had actually started at the venue some time before.
I first met them at a Houchins open day, where we chatted about their plans, how they wanted their wedding to feel, and what I could do to capture it. It’s always lovely when those initial conversations eventually turn into the wedding itself, and to arrive on the day already knowing the couple and what matters to them.
Their story started in a rather more modern way.

Or, more specifically, a Super Like from Alex. Of course.
From there, things clearly worked out rather well. By the time their wedding arrived, what really struck me was how completely comfortable Gen and Alex were together. There was no fuss or stress, just two people who were totally at ease with each other and ready to enjoy the day they’d planned.
That feeling extended to their families and friends too. This was simply a lovely group of people to spend a day with, warm, welcoming and genuinely delighted to be celebrating Gen and Alex.
When it came to choosing the venue, they certainly did their research. “It had everything we were after and the team seemed lovely. We liked the heritage made modern vibe. We looked at eight in total!”
Eight venues is a pretty comprehensive search, but Houchins eventually won them over. It’s one of the reasons I always enjoy coming back. Having filmed so many weddings here, I know the venue incredibly well, but every couple uses it slightly differently. Gen and Alex brought their own personality to the space, creating a day that felt relaxed, warm and completely theirs.
Genevieve and Alex’s Houchins wedding was a joy to film. A brilliant couple, wonderful families and friends, and another reminder of why I’m so pleased to be one of the venue’s recommended suppliers.
If you’re planning your own Houchins wedding, it’s a venue that manages to combine beautiful surroundings with a genuinely relaxed atmosphere. And if you’ve already looked at seven other venues before you get there, don’t be surprised if Houchins turns out to be number eight and the one you choose.
