Beth and Scott’s Houchins wedding in June 2026 was a wonderful reminder that you do not need a huge guest list to create an unforgettable wedding day. With just their closest family and friends gathered around them, the whole celebration felt intimate, relaxed and incredibly personal.
As one of Houchins’ recommended suppliers, it is always a pleasure to return to this beautiful Essex venue. I’ve been lucky enough to film many weddings here over the years, and every visit reminds me why it has become such a popular choice for couples.
From the moment I arrived, Beth and Scott were exactly as they remained throughout the day, completely at ease. There was no rushing around or unnecessary stress, just two people who were genuinely happy to be getting married. They were so comfortable in each other’s company that the whole morning unfolded effortlessly, setting the tone for everything that followed.
Their story began many years earlier at their very first job.
“Scott and I met at our very first job, working together as lifeguards at a local leisure centre. From the beginning, the two of us clicked straight away. Scott would often offer to drive me home after shifts, and the connection between us quickly grew into something more. We started almost dating immediately, and from that point onwards, we’ve been together ever since.”
Sometimes the best relationships begin in the most ordinary places. A few shared shifts, a lift home after work, and before long, you’ve found your person.
When it came to choosing a venue, Houchins immediately stood out.
“We chose Houchins because it was intimate, beautiful and relaxed. The gardens are amazing too. We knew it was perfect as soon as we arrived.”
One of my favourite little touches was waiting for guests during the drinks reception. Instead of the usual canapés alone, Beth and Scott had mini tubs of Pringles ready for everyone. Such a simple idea, but one that immediately raised a smile. Weddings are often remembered for these little personal details, and this was certainly one of them.
The rest of the day reflected the couple perfectly. Relaxed conversations in the gardens, heartfelt moments with family, and an atmosphere where nobody felt hurried. It was a celebration built around the people who mattered most, and that made it feel incredibly special. Beth and Scott’s Houchins wedding was proof that intimate weddings can have just as much atmosphere as the biggest celebrations. It was full of warmth, laughter and genuine connection from beginning to end.
