Easton Grange Wedding Video | Izzy and Andrew

Izzy and Andrew’s Easton Grange wedding took place in August on what genuinely felt like the hottest day of the year. This summer has given us some incredible weather, but this one was right up there. Blazing sunshine and blue skies and everyone spending most of the day doing their best to find a little bit of shade whenever they could.

Thankfully, Easton Grange is a venue that works beautifully on a summer’s day, and Izzy and Andrew were great company throughout. Despite the heat, the whole wedding had a wonderfully relaxed feel, with family and friends simply enjoying being together and celebrating these two.

Their story started at work when Andrew joined the BT graduate scheme in Belfast in 2017, with Izzy joining the scheme in London a year later. At the beginning of 2019, Andy moved internally to London and, as luck would have it, was given a desk directly behind Izzy.

Over the next seven weeks they became friends, quickly discovering they shared what Andy describes as the same “silly sense of humour”.

Eventually he asked her out and they’ve been together ever since.

When it came to finding somewhere to get married, Izzy did her research. She visited seven venues, all in Suffolk, where she grew up, before deciding that Easton Grange offered the best combination of everything they wanted. “Easton Grange was a perfect blend of beautiful, practical layout, sufficient capacity, hands-off in terms of food and, sort of, affordable.”

I particularly like their point about the layout. Rather than having lots of separate rooms where guests can disappear throughout the day, the U-shaped design gives an Easton Grange wedding a real centre. Everyone remains connected to what’s happening, while the different spaces still allow each part of the day to have its own feel. And on a day as hot as this one, having a venue that allowed everything to flow easily certainly helped.

The heat even managed to make an appearance during the speeches, although not quite in the way anyone expected. Right in the middle of them, phones across the room suddenly started sounding as the Government’s emergency alert system kicked into life. For a few seconds, there was that slightly unnerving moment where everyone wondered what on earth was happening.

Thankfully, it was only an alert about the risk of wildfires caused by the exceptionally hot weather. So, nothing to panic too much about, although certainly a first for me during wedding speeches and a pretty good indication of just how hot this particular August day really was.

Interestingly, Andy only actually visited one venue with Izzy, so much of his wedding venue research was done through YouTube. And that was also how they came across my films. They watched a lot of wedding videos. Apparently, quite a few of them were fairly boring. But then they found something that felt different.

“We saw two or three that had a very different style, where the speeches were put over videos of the day progressing, rather than a more standard chronological format. We both felt ourselves being transported into the day on those ones, so we knew we had to go for you!”

I love that description, because being transported back into the day is exactly what I want a wedding film to do.

From a friendship that started with two desks at BT, through a shared silly sense of humour, to one exceptionally hot August Easton Grange wedding, complete with a Government emergency alert for wildfires, this was a lovely story to capture.
