Charlotte and Ben’s Quendon Hall wedding took place right at the height of the late May heatwave, and it could not have been a more perfect day for an outdoor ceremony. Blue skies, sunshine from start to finish, and one of the most beautiful settings in Essex made for a wedding that felt elegant from beginning to end.
It had actually been a few years since I’d last filmed a Quendon Hall wedding, so it was a real pleasure to return. The venue looked incredible in the sunshine, with guests enjoying the grounds throughout the day and the famous deer park providing a stunning backdrop to the celebrations.
Charlotte and Ben’s story began back in sixth form in 2015. They became friends first, although there was one small complication.
As Ben explains:
“We met at sixth form in 2015, we became friends first and foremost as Charlotte actually dated one of my friends at the time…”
A few years later, after remaining close friends, navigating various talking stages with each other’s friends, and Charlotte even attempting to set Ben up with her cousin, they finally realised they liked each other as more than friends. The pair officially started dating in November 2017 and have been building their life together ever since.
When it came to finding a venue, the search was relatively short.
“We booked a viewing at maybe four or five venues. Quendon Hall was our first, we fell in love with the amazing grounds and the deer park.”
One of my favourite parts of the day was the ceremony itself. Charlotte and Ben chose to write personal vows, and they were genuinely some of the best I’ve heard. Thoughtful, funny, heartfelt and completely personal to them, they told their story far better than any introduction ever could. From a filmmaking perspective, vows like these are gold. They become the narrative thread that helps shape the entire film and bring every moment into focus.
