Laura and Jayme’s Manor Barn wedding was my first visit to this venue just outside Cambridge, and what a lovely introduction it turned out to be. Set amongst beautiful countryside and thoughtfully designed throughout, it is one of those venues that feels established already, beautifully maintained, carefully considered, and clearly run by people who genuinely care about the experience they create.
The day itself was overcast, with the odd spot of rain making an appearance through the afternoon. In one slightly surreal moment, Laura and the girls sensibly headed indoors when the rain started to spit, while the cricket match taking place across the road simply carried on regardless. A game famous for stopping at the mere suggestion of moisture, apparently not on this occasion.
The morning preparations set the tone for the day. Laura and the girls were wonderfully relaxed, creating a calm, easy atmosphere from the moment I arrived. Photographer Tom Halliday and I were looked after incredibly well too, with regular offers of croissants, cake and champagne. A dangerous combination when you are trying to remain professionally productive and film in focus.
Meanwhile, Jayme’s morning had a slightly different feel. A touch more nervous energy perhaps, getting ready largely on his own after the rest of the boys had sensibly disappeared off to the pub. It made for a lovely contrast.
This Manor Barn wedding was also a reminder that sometimes venue hunting can be wonderfully straightforward. Laura and Jayme told me: “The Manor Barn was the first and only venue we looked at and we loved it straight away and booked it the same day!”
And after spending the day there, it is easy to see why. The space flows beautifully, the setting feels relaxed and elegant, and the whole venue has been incredibly well thought through. A special mention too for Charlotte and Ali, who looked after everybody wonderfully throughout the day and are a real credit to the venue.
Laura and Jayme found me through Tom, who I always love working alongside, and as ever we had a brilliant day together exploring the venue, finding corners, chasing light between showers, and capturing everything as naturally as possible.
