High House Wedding Video | Rachel and Nick

Rachel and Nick’s High House wedding took place at the start of September and, slightly unusually for me, it was my second wedding at High House in two days. That is one of the things I love about this job. You can return to exactly the same venue within 24 hours and have a completely different experience. Different people, different atmosphere, different light, and a totally different story unfolding in front of you.

I was also working alongside my good friend John Thompson from Pure Image for the second day running. At that point, we genuinely could have saved ourselves the journey home and just stayed at the venue overnight.

Rachel and Nick were brilliant company throughout the day. From the moment I arrived, I got the impression that they had been genuinely excited for this wedding for a long time. They had clearly put a huge amount of thought into how they wanted everything to feel, and once the day arrived, all that planning paid off.

There was no unnecessary stress or drama, just a couple completely ready to enjoy the day they had spent so much time putting together.

When it came to finding a venue, they had been looking for a country manor house feel. High House was already on their radar, helped by the fact it is close to where they live and they had heard so many good things about it.

“We looked at country manor house venues. We’d heard lots of good things about High House and, as it’s close to where we live, we went along and both loved it. We knew it was the venue for us instantly.”

Having filmed plenty of High House weddings, I can understand that reaction. It has the elegance and character couples often want from a country wedding venue, but it still manages to feel relaxed and welcoming once everyone arrives. Rachel and Nick also already knew my work before getting in touch.

“We had followed your work on Instagram for a while and love the style. We felt really comfortable with you on the initial call, and you had also been recommended by High House.“

As someone who films weddings in a very natural way, that comfort is really important to me. The less aware a couple is of the camera, the more the day can unfold as it should, and the more genuine the film will eventually feel. And there was certainly plenty to work with here.

The speeches, for a start, were excellent. Nick’s was an absolute masterclass. Funny, confident and beautifully put together, with exactly the right balance of humour and emotion. But Rachel’s speech was equally lovely for a completely different reason, because she used it to celebrate her husband.

There was something incredibly warm about hearing her stand up in front of everyone and speak so openly about Nick, the person he is and what he means to her.

Rachel and Nick’s High House wedding felt considered without ever feeling over-planned. They had clearly thought carefully about the day, but once it arrived they simply trusted everything they’d put in place and enjoyed it.

A brilliant couple, some wonderful speeches, and another reminder that no two weddings ever feel remotely the same.
