Laura and Jack’s Friern Manor wedding at the start of July was a little different to most of the weddings I film, and I loved it for that. Instead of an early morning start and finishing as the sun set, this was a twilight wedding. That meant a leisurely afternoon arrival, a ceremony later in the day, and a finish well into the evening. Safe to say, my body clock had absolutely no idea what was going on.
It was also one of the hottest days of the summer, but despite the temperatures, everyone was in fantastic spirits from the moment I arrived. Laura and the girls were brilliant fun during bridal prep. There was plenty of laughter, lots of champagne, and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere that made filming those opening moments an absolute joy.
I was also lucky enough to be working alongside my good friend Matt Wing once again. We’ve worked together on countless weddings over the years, and it’s always a pleasure. When you’ve got a great team around you, the whole day just flows naturally.
Laura and Jack’s story actually began much earlier than most. The pair first knew each other at primary school, from Year 5 onwards, before going on to the same college. Despite all those years crossing paths, nothing ever happened between them.
It wasn’t until they were both 23, meeting again by chance at the pub, that everything changed. As they say, the rest is history.
Their wedding plans took a little longer to come together than originally expected. “We originally planned to get married back in 2021 but postponed due to having a baby. Then we decided we didn’t want to do a full day wedding, hence the twilight. We fell in love with the venue when we viewed.“
It is easy to see why. A Friern Manor wedding lends itself beautifully to twilight celebrations. The elegant manor house, landscaped gardens and beautiful evening light create a completely different feel from a traditional daytime wedding.
Laura and Jack’s Friern Manor wedding felt like one long summer evening spent with family and friends. Relaxed, stylish and full of laughter from beginning to end.
