I was very much looking forward to Sarah & Dave’s Butley Priory Wedding, I’d had this in the diary for a while & as my penultimate wedding of 2022 it was one I was looking forward to filming.
This was my first trip to Butley Priory & I hadn’t paid too much attention to the location until about 3 months before when the Arctic Monkeys just happened to mention the venue as the place they’d recorded their new album, The Car. I found the idea of a band recording at a Wedding venue fascinating, & was luckly enough in my ‘other job’ to be able to talk to Matt & Alex about the place when they came in for an interview. They were, of course, very complimentary.
Butley Priory is a stunning, if smaller than I imagined venue, but well run & quirky. With high ceilings it doesn’t feel small & for Sarah & Dave’s Butley Priory wedding the november sun shone through the large double doors & lit the venue with light. It was quite breathtaking at moments.
I enjoyed wandering around in the morning during the prep, popping into see Sarah & the girls before heading to the cottage to see Dave & the boys. Both preps were quite peaceful, everyone very much relaxed ahead of a special day.
I should mention Sarah & Dave’s ceremony, which featured two beautiful readings from Dave’s mother & Sarah’s brother – one of which I have used to end this film. Two well considered & well delivered readings that were perfect for the ceremony.
I hope Sarah & Dave, along with their friends & family, enjoy this film of their day. I loved putting together their Butley Priory Wedding Video & I thank them for their help & hospitality on the day.
Why did you choose Butley Priory?
We only looked at 2 venues but when we walked into Butley we knew straight away it would be our vibe. We loved it was very intimate, natural lighting and everyone could stay on site. We also didn’t know anyone who had got married there so wanted to make it our own special venue
Why did you choose me?
We used you because you had worked with our friend at his wedding and had seen your work and had a very good recommendation from him about you.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Set up a budget tracker to keep everything organised and in one place. Makes things a lot easier as a lot is going on with booking things in and can be a lot of manage but haven’t that in place makes things a lot easier to organise.
