Fay and Mark’s Blake Hall Wedding was one of those autumn days that just felt right. The air was crisp, the colours were rich, and everything about it felt warm, relaxed, and full of love. I was filming alongside my good friend (and all-round legend) Tom Halliday once again, and we had the best time capturing this Blake Hall Wedding – a day that was as family-focused, as it was fun.
Both Fay and Mark come from big families, and that sense of togetherness shaped everything about their day. Their older brothers played important roles throughout and the day was all about those close relationships that make weddings so special.
Their story began up in Edinburgh at the Fringe Festival. Fay was working as a theatre technician, or at least she was meant to be, until she injured herself on day two. Mark was then “lumbered” with her to help with the IT side of things, which she admits she had absolutely no idea how to do. It happened two years in a row, and by the end of it, she just told Mark to ask her out.
Their Blake Hall wedding reflected everything that makes them such a brilliant couple. Thoughtful, genuine, funny, and completely at ease. The day had a beautiful autumnal feel, deep oranges, soft light, and those little emotional moments that sneak up on you.
Afterwards, Fay and Mark said something that really stuck with me: “We really loved your films and that they capture the day in a relaxed way, with a mix of getting the important moments but also capturing the natural flow of what happened. Also, great sound quality! When we met you, we loved your vibe and energy and that we won’t feel like we are being filmed all day.” And that means everything. That’s exactly what I aim for, relaxed, real storytelling that lets the day unfold naturally.
During the planning we discovered that Mark and I actually work for the BBC, although not directly together. He’s the one making sure programmes stay on air, while I just mess around with audio all day.I wish to thank Fay and Mark, along with their friends and families for their hospitality and help on the day and I hope they enjoy this Blake Hall Wedding Video.
Why did you choose Blake Hall?
We only looked at a few but we loved the vibe of Blake Hall, the big windows of the ceremony barn, having the place to ourself, and the team there really sold it to us that they knew what they were doing!
